Techset Composition operates four production platforms according to textual content and customer requirements.  These are 3B2, TeX/LaTeX, QuarkXpress and Adobe InDesign.  We can apply full-text SGML or XML in all three operating environments and also apply a full range of fonts and any design specified by the publisher.

We understand how vitally important it is to the author and publisher that an author’s math is not interfered with in any way during the composition process, from the time the publisher supplies the author’s files to the time we supply PDF files for print and a LaTeX download on completion. 

For that reason, we work completely within the LaTeX domain without importing the files into any other operating system. Using only the author’s LaTeX files, we implement the copy editor’s text changes, format and apply the page layout and design specification, make the author’s proof corrections and finally supply PDF print files.  The advantages of this method are that the author has no need of rigorous proof checking of math and that a LaTeX download is available at the end of the job, which will include all the changes made to the text throughout the composition process.
